It is the peak above the resort, a short walk from the cable cars' top stations, with views as far as Piatra Mare.
About the place
Postăvarul, called Schuler by the Saxons, is 1,799 m high and the highest peak of the massif of the same name. The ridge is limestone, with white crags and fir trees, and a tower with antennas stands on the summit. From the top you see Brașov, the Bârsa plain and the Piatra Mare massif, and on good days paragliders take off from here.
The shortest climb starts at the cable cars' top stations, near Cristianul Mare peak. From the resort, the red-cross trail passes the Sulinar run, Prăpastia Lupului and the Postăvarul hut, about 6 km to the summit.
Good to know
- The shortest climb starts at the top station of the Capra Neagră cable car, which on 7 November 2026 was running outside the ski season too.
- On foot from the resort, follow the red cross: about 6 km to the summit, past the Postăvarul hut.
- The weather changes fast: take warm clothes, water and mountain boots; in an emergency call 112 (Salvamont).
