It is considered the oldest mountain hut in Romania and still works today, with rooms and its own kitchen.
About the place
After the Brașov section of the Transylvanian Carpathian Society (SKV) marked the first trails on Postăvarul, Hungarian and Saxon craftsmen built the hut between 1881 and 1883. It was first called Schulerhütte, after the Saxon name of the massif, and later Julius Römer-Hütte, after the society's first president. It was enlarged several times and returned to the SKV in 2004.
Today it has rooms with mountain views and a restaurant where soups, grilled dishes and cakes are made every day, according to its website. You can walk up from the resort on the red-cross trail, or walk down less than 1 km from the Kanzel cable car's top station. In winter the hut stands right by the runs.
Good to know

- On foot, the red-cross trail climbs from the resort past the Sulinar run and through Prăpastia Lupului to the hut and on to the summit.
- In winter, do not walk up the runs while people are skiing: use the marked paths and wear mountain boots.
