It is the resort's church, built because Poiana had none, and it pairs with a short walk by the lake in the centre.
About the place
The church was built of wood in the Maramureș style between 1997 and 1999 and belongs to the Saint John the Baptist Monastery of the Archdiocese of Sibiu. It was built because the resort had no church, and today it is also on the routes of pilgrim groups travelling the Prahova Valley and Brașov.
About 200 m to the west is Lake Miorița, a small lake in the resort centre, with the Aurelius hotel and the Miorița restaurant on its shore. The church and the lake make a short walk in any season.
Good to know
- Dress modestly and do not take photos during services.
- The walk round the lake is short and works in winter too, on the paths in the centre.
- The Capra Neagră cable car is about 250 m away: combine the walk with a ride up the mountain.
