From the meadows here you see the Bucegi, and the paths lead to some of the area's best-known huts.
About the place
Pârâul Rece is a village belonging to the town of Predeal, about 8 km along the DN73A towards Râșnov. It lies at 960 m where the Râșnoava meets the Pârâul Mic and was for a long time a resort for pupils and students, with villas and holiday camps. Until 1956 it belonged to Râșnov.
From the surrounding meadows you see the Bucegi. In the valley there is a Franciscan monastery and a First World War cemetery with Romanian, German and Hungarian soldiers. From here you can walk up to the Trei Brazi hut in about half an hour and on to Poiana Secuilor.
Good to know
- Combine Pârâul Rece with Trei Brazi: the walk up takes about half an hour.
- Walks to the Diham hut (1,320 m) also start here; check beforehand that it is open and which markings to follow.
- The Râșnoava Gorge lies further down the valley towards Râșnov and is covered on the Râșnov page.
