It keeps its first ring wall intact with five towers, plus a 13th-century chapel painted around 1400, only 5 km from Hărman.
About the place
The medieval church was demolished after its tower collapsed twice; the present neoclassical church dates from 1794, and its tower was added in 1817. Inside are an organ and a column altar. The first ring wall is intact, with five towers and rooms on two levels on the inside; only ruins remain of the second wall. The 13th-century chapel was fortified in the 15th century with two more levels, and its walls carry paintings from around 1400.
The old school and the old village hall stand on the south side of the churchyard. The church has no fixed opening hours, but it can usually be visited on most days; call the Evangelical parish of Sânpetru first. The village lies at the foot of Lempeș hill, so the visit combines easily with a walk.
