About the place

The museum opened in the castle on 28 April 1957. After the castle was returned to its owners, the state's collections moved in 2009 to the customs house, and since 1 June 2018 they have been in the building at 14 Doctor Aurel Stoian Street. The permanent exhibition, the 'Queen Marie' history section, has 11 rooms on three floors.

The ground floor holds the 'Queen Marie' room, with part of the Golden Salon, a dining room from 1926–1927 and 16th-century German sculpture. The first floor has the Biedermeier and neo-Rococo salons, the bedrooms of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie and a room on notable people from Bran. The second floor shows Secession, neo-Romanian and European furniture. From 1 May to 30 September it opens Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 to 18:00, and from 1 October to 30 April 9:00 to 16:00 (last entry times); it is closed on Mondays.
