It tells you what you need before a hike in the park, and the exhibition is a good stop on bad-weather days.
About the place
Piatra Craiului National Park covers 14,766 hectares with 42 marked trails, and its limestone ridge is 25 km long. Bears, wolves, lynx and chamois live in the park, and the Piatra Craiului pink (Dianthus callizonus) grows only in this massif, according to the park administration.
The visitor centre, opened on 16 April 2016, is a circuit through the geology, plants, wildlife, caves and villages around the massif, with interactive screens, a reconstructed sheepfold and cave and a 3D model of the park onto which maps are projected. It has ramps for wheelchair users, tactile floor guides and Braille panels. The park visitor ticket includes entry to the centre.
